My family went to the movies yesterday and as expected, the genuis of Pixar shined through once again. The makers of some of the best animated films ever… including The Incredibles, Toy Story, and Monster’s Inc… once again showed why they are the best. They are MASTER story tellers!
Sure, they always have amazing, new graphics, perfect soundtracks, and the best voice overs in the business. With Pixar though, all these elements are there to support (and never overpower) the reason for their movies… to tell a GREAT story!
With their most recent release, WALL-E, in addition to telling a great story, the folks at Pixar humanized their insentient characters like only they can. One of the coolest moments in the movie for my family was at the climax. Without giving too much away… Blake (my seven-year-old) got it! He was telling me why things weren’t working and was providing me with the technical solution. However, I new this plan wouldn’t work, but I didn’t know how they were going to resolve it. Well, let’s just say they did it perfectly… even with a gesture of respect to some of the Disney classics.
Way to go Pixar!
Anybody else see the movie? What were your thoughts?

We saw it last week and loved it! I can’t wait to see it again when it comes out. I feel like I miss a lot when I see movies like that for the first time. Easy to do when Olivia is there.
Hey Son, I’m so glad that you put this on here because I have been wanting to go see this movie. I’ve watched several clips from it online. Now that I have read your story, somehow, I will get to see it. Love you all a whole bunch. Love, Hugs, and Prayers to you.
I saw it last thursday and it’s definitely my favorite pixar movie so far. The details were amazing!
[...] response to Phil’s commentary on the new Pixar movie, WALL-E, it’s a definite must see. I saw it last Thursday [...]
So I think Pixar does generally make great movies, but I think Wall-E falls short of my big three Pixar flicks (Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles). I liked little Wall-E, but it doesn’t have enough going on to make my top 10 list of family movies. Sad face. I also kind of thought it was a boring story–and no, not the first half, but the second half; I really liked the fallout-esque Earth, but the luxury-spaceship bit felt stretched out, with the characters chasing each other, and the plant, and then predictably working things out… it felt like there just wasn’t much else to do with the story after Wall-E left Earth.
But that’s just me, being overly analytical during my breaks from studying for the bar exam.
